Reminds me so much of the early days with our sheepadoodle. It was horrible- and apartments make potty training a puppy THAT much harder. We were so exhausted and my partner threatened to take her back more than once. Now she’s 5 1/2, the LITERAL LIGHT OF OUR LIVES, and we can’t imagine life without her. But those early months were completely brutal. Hang in there!!

Thank you! the apartment thing is so real! Up and down three flights of stairs 10 times a day! Mad!

I love the extrapolation to other circumstances and, as always, your great sense of humor. The photos are epic, too!

Yes, so much harder than babies! Babies don’t have sharp teeth, don’t rip up your things and gnaw through your favorite whatevers, and can’t run away from you for the longest time. (But I found intellectual work impossible with a baby within fifty yards of me.)

It does get better, so much better — but you will NEVER look back and wish this time were longer! I will have to read that L.A. Paul essay: the future me will never exist! It’s so true!

the future me will never exist! love that way of putting it. Thank you! And wow you are so right, at least with babies you have a bit of time before they're on the move and biting is ... rare?
